Fornax publications in the journal Information and Communications Technology and Law
Fornax professionals published papers in two topics in the journal Information and Communications Technology and Law. The topics were „Intelligent vehicles on the road – background, opportunities, risks and solutions” and „Internet of things, technology background, IT security and data protection aspects”.
With more than 25 years of experience in system integration, Fornax engages in research and development activities besides executing commercial projects. The company group Fornax opened a new office out of the capital recently, in the centre of Veszprém, where an IT development centre was established. Our colleagues here work on the product development of the Eventus work flow and work force management software among other tasks.
As the result of the research work several summarizing papers were written in various topics that are sophisticated enough to be published on various professional forums.
The experts of Fornax therefore published two papers in the issues 62 and 63 of year XII. of the journal called Information and Communications Technology and Law. The quarterly periodical published since 2004 deals primarily with IT law, infocommunication law and media law.
Fornax possesses significant experience mainly in the area of ICT, but it has acquired knowledge regarding remote meter reading as well. Both IoT and the connected car concept are based on M2M – that is machine to machine communication – so the link seemed obvious. Fornax is looking for new areas of application for its proprietary, international award winner work flow and work force management system, Eventus. The choice of these two hot topics were driven by the fact that our company sees great potential in both IoT and connected cars, and they are also a great fit to the concept of Eventus.
In the paper „Intelligent vehicles on the road – background, opportunities, risks and solutions” Zoltan Nagy, electrical engineer and the general manager of Fornax ICT, Zsolt Nagy, lawyer, and István Schleinitz and András Vereb IT engineers, developers at Fornax ICT elaborate on the future and the possible wide spreading of intelligent vehicles. Focusing on motorized road vehicles the paper demonstrates the effect information and communication technologies have on developments in the car industry, it presents the IT background while touching on the opportunities provided by the intersection of areas of expertise with different foci, and it finishes by listing the risks and the solutions to eliminate these. The authors also comment on how „dumb” vehicles can be enhanced to „smart” ones. Leveraging the professional background of the co-authors, the paper also shines a light on the legal aspects of the matter.
The other paper, „Internet of things, technology background, IT security and data protection aspects”, was brought about by the fact that with the development and spreading of information and communication technologies and with the internet becoming a utility, the Internet of Things, and its root, machine to machine communication (M2M) became one of the most prominent, set of topics of driving the industry. Despite the undoubtable advantages yielded by the giant leaps in the technology of connecting devices, several points of vulnerability arise as well that need to be handled. Fornax experts Viktor Bocsok, lawyer, Csaba Loós, network development manager, Péter Boldizs and Tamás Major development engineers give an overview of the ideas and technology behind IoT, and present the arising technology and legal issues, the threats and the possible answers to these.
